The Canada-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce (CUCC) connects businesses between Canada and Ukraine, supporting growth and cross-border partnerships. Despite their important mission, CUCC’s outdated website had major usability issues, a broken multilingual setup, and a bland design. They needed a modern, organized, bilingual platform that reflected their international role. I led a full website rebuild — improving structure, design, and admin usability to support their ongoing growth.
Challenges and Solutions
- Solution: I cleaned up the structure, connected content properly across languages, and added strong CTAs to guide users.
Duplicate and Unnecessary Pages: Nearly half of the pages were duplicates, and some were leftover template pages from the original theme.
- Solution: I removed duplicates, deleted unused pages, and rebuilt the site with a streamlined, logical layout.
Improper WPML Setup: WPML was not set up for visual editing, making it difficult for non-technical admins to manage multilingual content.
- Solution: I reconfigured WPML to allow full visual editing in both languages and added visual templates for blogs and board profiles.
Unorganized Board of Directors: Director profiles were scattered and inconsistently structured.
- Solution: I created an automated system where new director entries populate correctly without needing double entry.
Outdated, Bland Design: The design lacked engagement and didn’t reflect CUCC’s professionalism.
- Solution: I introduced a modern design with better branding, modular layouts, and a strong focus on initiatives like “Rebuild Ukraine.”

I Refreshed It!
I redesigned the CUCC hero section by replacing the static, outdated layout with a bold, full-screen background of the Canadian and Ukrainian flags, instantly creating a stronger emotional connection. I improved the typography for better readability, added a clear “Become a Member” call-to-action, and modernized the navigation to deliver a cleaner, more engaging first impression.
I Simplified It!
I transformed the CUCC membership application page from a cluttered, text-heavy layout into a clear, step-by-step guide. The new design uses bold numbering, better spacing, and strong call-to-action buttons to walk users through the application and payment process effortlessly, making the experience faster, cleaner, and more user-friendly.
I Brought It to Life!
For the “Rebuild Ukraine” section, I replaced a static grid of conference links with a dynamic video block paired with a clear call to action. I added supporting text, strategic highlights, and bold buttons to drive user engagement. This new design creates a stronger emotional connection and encourages visitors to actively explore and support CUCC’s initiatives.
I Modernized It!
The Board of Directors page was completely refreshed with a cleaner, more modern layout. I replaced small, inconsistent photos and redundant biography buttons with larger, high-quality portraits and a streamlined, tabbed navigation. The new design offers a more professional and personal presentation of CUCC’s leadership team, making it easier for visitors to connect with the organization.
